What personal data we collect and why we collect it
At this moment, Jazz Hands Journal does not run or display ads on our website. This section is for future reference when or if we decide to run ads.
Data Used: The following information (made available from the visitor’s browser) is collected and sent to Automattic’s Demand Partners: IP address, geographical data (derived from the IP address), user agent, operating system, device type, unique user ID (randomly generated identifier), current URL, and IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) interest category. Log data (IP address, geographical data, user agent, operating system, device type) is stored for 30 days. The unique user ID is stored in cookies and is retained for 1 year.
Activity Tracked: Ad impressions, video-related events (i.e. pause, mute, 100% plays, etc.) or errors, and ad click events. Various cookies are used for the following purposes: delivering targeted advertisements to specific visitors, storing user identifiers, and collecting anonymous ad platform stats.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms and other data entry forms
If you contact us (Jazz Hands Journal) through any contact forms on this site (www.jazzhandsjournal.com), you are providing us your name, email address and any other information you willingly provide. We retain your name, email, and correspondence for our records.
Jazz Hands Journal utilizes forms for user registration, login, and profiles. Via these forms, we are collecting only the personal data that you (the user) input. The purpose of membership is to allow users to use the functionality of our site that we do not wish to be public to unregistered users (commenting, data submission) and to fight spam.
Registered user information is retained in our membership database indefinitely.
Data can be exported or removed upon users request.
Your registration and membership data is not sent off-site, in other words, we do not share your registration and account details with 3rd party services.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Jazz Hands Journal utilizes SSL Secure connection between users computers and our website server. All data sent between the website server and user computers is encrypted and private.
This site utilizes caching in order to facilitate a faster response time and better user experience. Caching potentially stores a duplicate copy of every web page that is on display on this site. All cache files are temporary and are never accessed by any third party, except as necessary to obtain technical support from the cache plugin vendor. Cache files expire on a schedule set by the site administrator, but may easily be purged by the admin before their natural expiration, if necessary.
